The following information is about Potassium.
Potassium Defined
An important nutrient needed for healthy nerves and muscles and regulation of fluid in the body's cells. The balance between potassium and sodium in a woman's body is important. Potassium can be found in fruits and vegetables (bananas, potatoes, dark leafy greens), legumes (limas, peanut butter), black-strap molasses, fish, poultry, meat, and milk. In patients with impaired renal functions, potassium levels can be high. Therefore, drugs that may increase potassium (such as drospirenone) should not be taken by patients with kidney disease, hepatic dysfunction, or adrenal insufficiency.
